Butler -
Troopers say unsafe speed is to blame for a one-car crash that killed a driver in western Oklahoma.
It happened Sunday afternoon near Butler in Custer County. Troopers say a pickup truck driven by 20-year-old Dustin Packard of Hammon was southbound on a county road when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road.
The truck struck an embankment and rolled onto its top.
Packard was pinned in the vehicle for about two hours before being freed by Butler EMS. He was taken to an Elk City hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The trooper's report indicates Packard was not wearing a seat belt and that the pickup truck's airbag failed to deploy.
