Norman -
Romero Osby scored 24 points as Oklahoma held off a late rally by Texas A&M, beating the Aggies 65-62 Saturday in Norman on Senior Day.
The Sooners (14-15 overall, 4-13 Big 12) took the lead for good on a 3-pointer by C.J. Washington with 5:13 left in the first half and the lead grew to as many as 13 in the second half before A&M began their comeback.
A 3-pointer by Elston Turner trimmed the lead to 53-50 and the lead dwindled to a single point when David Loubeau hit a jumper with 1:38 to play.
But, Osby scored on a lay-up with 35 seconds left and Sam Grooms added a pair of free throws with nine seconds to play to seal the victory.
Texas A&M had one last chance, but Turner's 3-point attempt at the buzzer was off the mark.
Joining Osby in double figures was Andrew Fitzgerald with 10. Loubeau had 15 to lead the Aggies (13-16, 4-13).
These same two teams will meet again Wednesday in the opening game of the Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament in Kansas City.
