TU Softball Wins Two vs. Loyola-Chicago

Lacey Middlebrooks pitched a four-hit shutout, and Tulsa used two big innings to defeat Loyola Chicago, 7-0, Saturday and advance to the championship game of the Hyatt Downtown Tulsa Tournament at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

Middlebrooks (5-1) struck out eight batters in the win. Six different TU batters drove in a run, and seven different batters got a hit in the ballgame. Senior second baseman Skylar Swanson led the way with two RBI, while junior center fielder Caitlin Everett had three hits, and sophomore left fielder Cierra Hughes had two hits.

The Golden Hurricane (13-3) beat the Ramblers (0-4), 10-2 (5 inn.), earlier Saturday in the final game of round robin play. In the first game, Everett had three hits, four RBI and four runs, while junior shortstop Samantha Cobb drove in three runs on two hits.

Tulsa will play North Texas in the tournament championship game at noon Sunday, following the consolation game between Loyola Chicago and Austin Peay at 10 a.m.
