Troopers say a 17-year-old Elk City man fled from an Oklahoma City hospital after leading an officer on a pursuit that ended with a crash in Beckham County.

It happened at about 3 a.m. on State Highway 34. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 17-year-old Cody Jones of Elk City was trying to elude an officer near Carter when the officer performed a tactical vehicle intervention to prevent Jones from entering the city limits.

Jones lost control of the vehicle, ran off the left side of the road and struck an electric pole. The car rolled onto its top.

Jones was airlifted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, but troopers say he left the hospital before testing was done.

The OHP report indicates Jones was thought to have been driving under the influence of alcohol.
