Kansas City, MO -
The inaugural season of Oklahoma basketball with Lon Kruger at the helm has come to an end in disappointment.
The Sooners opened the Big 12 tournament with a 62-53 setback to a Texas A&M team that it defeated only four days earlier.
OU (15-16) rallied from seven points down to tie the game on Sam Grooms' lay-up with 9:10 to play. But, the Aggies scored the next six points and would never trail again.
Romero Osby led the Sooners with 17 points. Grooms added 13. The rest of the team combined for 23 points and 9-of-28 shooting.
Oklahoma was also dominated on the boards, with A&M owning a 37-28 advantage.
Texas A&M (14-17) moves into the quarterfinals to face top-seed Kansas Thursday. For OU, the season ends with a below .500 record for the third straight season.
