Texas Tech Trifecta: Cowboys Rout Red Raiders To Advance

Posted: Updated:

Oklahoma State defeated Texas Tech for the third time this season, opening Big 12 Tournament play with a 76-60 win over the Red Raiders Wednesday night in Kansas City.

The Cowboys played without Le'Bryan Nash for the fourth straight game, but right off the bat, it looked like they didn't need him.

OSU (15-17) raced out to a quick 13-2 lead and it was 30-19 when the Red Raiders finally showed up, going on a 17-to-5 run spanning the first and second halves, taking the lead on a 3-pointer by Luke Adams with just under 17 minutes to play.

But the Cowboys responded. Cezar Guerrero answered with a trey of his own to start a 15-0 spurt. The rest was history.

OSU shot 52-percent from the field and made all 16 of their free throw attempts. The Cowboys also had only seven turnovers while forcing 18.

Keiton Page led four Cowboys in double figures with 20 points. Also in double digits were Brian Williams with 19, Guerrero with 16 and Markel Brown with 12.

Oklahoma State advances to the quarterfinals, where they will meet up with the No. 2 seed Missouri. Thursday night's game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off and can be seen on Tulsa's Channel 8.
