The Golden Eagles season came to an end Wednesday night in the first
round of the NIT. Nevada used an 8-0 run midway through the second half
to create some distance and the Wolf Pack hold on to win 68-59.
ORU was out-rebounded by Nevada 45-29.
Five
ORU players scored in double figures led by Dominique Morrison and
Roderick Pearson. Both at 13 points. All of Morrison's 13 came in the
second half as the Wolf Pack held him and Steven Roundtree scoreless ion
the first.
"I hated
going out like that," said Coach Scott Sutton. "We didn't play well. We
got beat by a very good team, that's an NCAA tournament team. They
certainly deserved to be in that tournament, but if you expect to beat a
team like that you can't afford to play poorly in areas which we did.
We didn't rebound at all, we gave up 19 second-chance points and that
was a key going in."
Nevada was led by Dario Hunt with 18. Deonte Burton added 17 and Olek Czyz finished with 13.
Oral Roberts finished the season 27-7 on the year. It's their best record since the 1989-1990 team went 36-6 in NAIA play.
