Cougars Snap Cowboys' Win Streak

STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State had its season long six-game winning streak snapped Saturday as Houston knocked off the Cowboys, 8-1, at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
 
With the loss, which was only OSU's second in 13 games at home this season, the Cowboys fell to 12-8 overall, while Houston is now 8-10.
 
Jarrett Higgins and Mark Ginther combined for five of OSU's nine hits Saturday, with Higgins collecting a career-high three hits in five at-bats.
 
Houston took an early lead against OSU starter Randy McCurry, going up 1-0 on Casey Grayson's RBI double in the second inning.
 
The Cougars took control of the contest in the middle innings, taking a 3-0 advantage on another double by Grayson, this one a two-RBI shot in the fourth. UH then rallied for three runs in the fifth, knocking McCurry from the game.
 
McCurry lasted just four innings and fell to 2-2 on the year. The junior right-hander allowed five runs on six hits to go along with five strikeouts and a walk.
 
OSU's lone run came in the fourth when the Cowboys trimmed their deficit to 4-1 on a home run by Gabe Weidenaar.
 
Houston starter Jordan Lewis worked seven innings for the victory to improve to 3-2. The southpaw gave up eight hits while striking out four and walking two.
 
The two teams will square off in the rubber match of the series Sunday at 1 p.m.
