OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett today announced the 2012 class of inductees into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame, that included former Sooner great, Dewey Selmon. Selmon's induction will mark the third Selmon brother induction into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame.
Leroy Selmon was inducted in 1992 and Lucious Selmon was inducted in 2011.
One of the three legendary Selmon brothers, Dewey Selmon played linebacker for the University of Oklahoma. A two-time All American (1974 & 1975), he was a key defensive figure on the 1974 & 1975 Sooner National Championship teams.
During those seasons, he registered triple figures in tackles, second only to his brother Lee Roy. He went on to play for six seasons in the NFL, five with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The induction ceremonies will be held on August 6, 2012 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
