ORU's Gonzalez Earns Summit League Pitcher of the Week

Posted: Updated:

After tossing seven and two-thirds shutout innings over 11th-ranked Cal State Fullerton on Saturday, Oral Roberts pitcher Alex Gonzalez is being honored for his work.

Gonzalez, a sophomore from Delray Beach, Florida, was named the Summit League's Pitcher of the Week Monday after striking out six and walking only one as the Golden Eagles defeated CSF 3-0 to salvage the final game of a three-game series Saturday.

It's the fifth pitcher of the week award for Gonzalez, who is now 2-and-1 with a 1.40 earned run average in four starts.

ORU is 10-and-12 and will next play Tuesday evening at Oklahoma before hosting a weekend three-game series against Louisiana Tech.
