Bobby Petrino Fired at Arkansas

Posted: Updated:
Fayetteville, AR -

Arkansas Head Football Coach Bobby Petrino was fired Wednesday afternoon with cause.

Athletic Director Jeff Long said Petrino knowingly misled the university about the circumstances of his motorcycle accident.

Long's investigation of the incident uncovered that Petrino hired Jessica Durrell to his staff after they had an inappropriate relationship.

This conflict of interest was a violation of university policy.

Long said Petrino negatively and adversely affected the reputation of the razorbacks.

The coaching search will begin immediately.  If Arkansas can't find a qualified replacement before next year, Arkansas will play the 2012 season with an interim and then begin a coaching search after the season is over.
