The cheers resounded through Charlie Mitchell's Modern Pub Monday afternoon following the announcement of the Tulsa Shock's first selection of the 2012 WNBA Draft.

The Shock picked Glory Johnson, a forward from the University of Tennessee. But having the opportunity to witness the draft along with the team's front office was just part of the experience.

Approximately thirty minutes later, a plasma TV set at the front of the bar is hosting a video conference call with Tulsa's newest player.

Erik Newendorp comes prepared with a list of questions he gathered from the crowd prior to the video conference call.

At one point, Johnson's responds to one of the questions with, "I love to go fishing!" It was met with a roaring cheer.

Overall, the fans appeared enthusastic and hopeful for a much better season in 2012. Logically that would not be difficult to accomplish when considering the Shock won just three games last year.

New head coach Gary Kloppenburg appears optimistic with the start of preseason camp less than two weeks away.

"I think we're going to put an exciting team out there this year," said Kloppenburg.

"[The team will have] high energy especially with the players we drafted this year. We'd like to invite everybody in Tulsa to come out to see what we're going to put out there this year."

The Shock open preseason camp on April 29th. Single-game tickets are now available at www.tulsashock.net.
