A man from Mounds was arrested early Friday morning during a routine traffic stop.

53-year-old David Lee Williams was a passenger inside a vehicle speeding seven miles over the posted speed limit, according to OHP Public Affairs.

An OHP trooper pulled the vehicle over near Hectorville Road and County Road 210, about one mile east of Highway 75, just after midnight Friday morning.

According to OHP, Williams got out of the vehicle and ran.

The trooper indicated that Williams attempted to assault him while being handcuffed.

The trooper reported seeing a wet substance dripping down the front of Williams' pants and a strong chemical odor.

The trooper then recovered a plastic water bottle from Williams' pants.  It reportedly contained 411 grams of "meth oil."

OHP said Williams was arrested and booked on charges of eluding police and felony manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance.

Officials said WIlliams had a prior arrest in Okmulgee County for manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance in 2000.

Williams' wife, the driver, was reportedly released at the scene with no criminal charges.
