"Avengers" Fans Flock To Local Theater For Midnight Showing

Posted: Updated:

Fans lined up Thursday evening for the next big blockbuster, "The Avengers."

Several people showed up in costume at the Cinemark near 71st and Memorial to begin their nearly 4-hour wait for the film.

The superhero movie features Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America, and Thor.

The two fans we talked to said it's been a lifelong obsession and that it's much different from that popular vampire/werewolf film franchise.

"Twilight is sort of a fad where this is part of our childhood," says Red dressed as Thor.

"I'm actually a pretty big fan of the whole Avengers series," says Jojo dressed as Iron Man. "I'm hoping they stay true to the story and they don't do too much weird stuff."

Hollywood experts say "Avengers" could defeat Harry Potter's final installment with the biggest opening ever.

That would be at least $170 million.
