Tulsa Traffic: I-44 Shifts To New Pavement

You may have noticed some changes if you took I-44 between Lewis and the Arkansas River Friday morning.

All lanes of traffic have been moved over onto smooth, new pavement.

Motorists should be ready for a new path west of Lewis.

The westbound off-ramp to Riverside is now open, the westbound off-ramp to Peoria has shifted to the west and the westbound on-ramp from Lewis is open.

Speed limits remain reduced in the construction zones.

That whole project should be finished next year.

On Sunday night a tornado went through the town of Carney. It destroyed or damaged about 40 homes. When you look out at the area there are homes in every direction that show some kind of damage. Some of the families that have lived there for 17 years and have never been through anything like this. They didn't even have enough time to get their family in the shelter.
