The Muscogee (Creek) Nation finalized the purchase of the Okmulgee Golf Club on Thursday.

Principal Chief George Tiger signed legislation that authorized the Tribe's purchase of the Okmulgee Golf Club for $3.6 million.

The property contains an 18-hole golf course, restaurant, meeting rooms, banquet room, and swimming pool.

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation council approved the legislation for the purchase at its April 28th meeting, and Tiger's signature was the final step in the acquisition.

Tiger said in a press release that the purchase will be used to seek diversity and economic development and that a study will be conducted before the tribe decides what to do with the property.

The Okmulgee Golf Club is located at 1400 Mission Lane in Okmulgee, and it is approximately 159 acres.

The Muscogee (Creek) Nation is the largest of the Federally-recognized Muscogee tribes and is headquartered in Okmulgee.
