Bobby Klinck, a former Jenks high standout who went on to play collegiately at OU and TU, has been named the new head football coach at East Central.

Klinck, who starred on Jenks' 6A title winning teams in 2001 and 2003, most recently was defensive coordinator at Muskogee and also assisted previously at Owasso. He was also a grad assistant at TU and Central Missouri.

"Bobby Klinck is an outstanding young man and was a good high school and college football player in the Tulsa area," said Tulsa Public Schools Athletic Director Gil Cloud. "As the new head football coach at East Central, he brings an excitement to the program that will have a very positive impact this spring, summer and on to the fall season."

Klinck replaces Ben Bowling, who resigned last month after his arrest for driving under the influence. Bowling had been on the job only two months after having filled the vacancy left when Travis Hill resigned in December.

East Central was 10-and-2 last season, advancing to the Class 5A quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Guthrie. The Cardinals are a combined 32-and-6 over the past three seasons.
