Tulsa Police say the Admiral Twin Theater in the 7300 block of East Easton Street was vandalized Friday night.

TPD Corporal Scott Anderson told KTUL.com that a construction worker called police at 9:30 a.m. Saturday to report damage and that police responded at 11:00 a.m.

According to Anderson—a glass door at the ticket booth was broken, most of the lights in the main building were broken, and things were thrown around and were out of place.

The vandals reportedly tried to break the front doors.

Anderson said there was no word on whether anything was missing.

The police report also indicated that nothing was damaged when construction crews left the theater late Friday night.

Police have no suspects in this case.

The Admiral Twin Theater originally opened in 1951 as a single-screen theater called the Modernaire. In 1952, new owners changed the name to Admiral Twin after adding a second screen.

The theater was used for location shots for the 1983 Zoetrope/Pony Boy film The Outsiders.

A fire in September 2010 destroyed much of the theater and forced its closing.

The owner reportedly received more than $30,000 in donations to refurbish the theater.

Admiral Twin was scheduled to re-open on July 4th.

"It's a minor setback," said General Manager Dottie Stockton, "but of course we're moving forward on building and getting ready to open this summer."

Anyone with information on Friday night's vandalism is encouraged to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
