No More Thunder Games On Big Screen Outside Arena

Oklahoma City -

Shootings that prompted security concerns for Oklahoma City Thunder fans outside Chesapeake Energy Arena on Monday have brought an end to fans being able to watch games on the huge big-screen outside the arena.

The team announced Wednesday afternoon that while the Thunder Alley pre-game party will be allowed to continue, it will end when the games start and that the thousands of fans who stayed outside the arena to watch the game on the big-screen will have to find somewhere else to watch the game.

It follows shootings Monday night that left nine people injured, eight from gunshot wounds. The shootings happened blocks away from the arena and police say the incident was not connected to the game in any way, however it raised concerns over fans' safety.

Oklahoma City clinched its second straight appearance in the Western Conference Finals Monday night with a 106-90 win over the Los Angeles Lakers and will return to the court Sunday night against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals in San Antonio.

The next game in Oklahoma City will be Thursday, May 31st.
