Heavener -
A Texas man has died after he crashed his motorcycle in southeastern Oklahoma.
It happened Wednesday afternoon at about 1:50 p.m. on the Talimena Scenic Drive south of Heavener.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 74-year-old John Raney of Greenville, Texas, was eastbound on the roadway when his motorcycle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a guardrail.
Raney was pronounced dead at the scene. Troopers say he was wearing a helmet at the time, but suffered multiple injuries in the crash.
This is the fifth motorcycle fatality in Oklahoma in five days. Troopers urge motorists to use caution and always encourage those riding motorcycles to use helmets.
