Girl Shot Dead in Car Saturday Night

A young woman is dead following a shooting Saturday night.

Sergeant Dave Walker of the Tulsa Police Department said police responded to a call about a shooting into a vehicle in the 12000 block of East 15th Street in Tulsa just after 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

Walker said they found a 17-year-old female with a gunshot wound when they arrived. She later died at an area hospital.

According to Walker, the victim just recently graduated from high school.

The victim's family is asking that her name be withheld until they have a chance to notify all relatives.

There is no motive at this time, and the initial police investigation can not find any reason for this shooting.

Tulsa Police have very little information to go on and are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS, the Homicide Tip Line at 918-798-8477 or to e-mail homicide@cityoftulsa.org.

This is Tulsa's twenty-first murder so far in 2012.
