Tulsa, OK -
With bowed heads and heavy hearts, those who knew Jordan Sigli cling to their faith and each other. "It's just senseless. Senseless. Children shooting guns and guns in the hands of these children. It's just really sad," said Jordan's grandmother Janet Phipps. It's been more than a week since someone shot her 13 year old grandson. He was headed to an older teen's birthday party, now he won't live to see his own. "Going out there to that party wasn't safe. You know, there's a lot of anger about that party," Phipps admitted.
But on Wednesday morning inside Emerson Elementary, those who loved him most tried to focus on Jordan's life. Thirteen short years that they say were full of promise. They'll miss his smile, sense of style, and the way he joked. "Just his personality. He was just a great guy to be around. A whole lot of fun," said friend Skylar Holmes.
Without him life will never be the same for many of them. No one knows that better than his mom, Michelle. After the service, so many couldn't wait to get to her. They offered hugs to help the healing. "Oh it's just awesome. She's drawing off of the outpouring of the children, you know that's making her stronger," said Phipps of her daughter. She says Jordan will be missed but she knows he's in a better place.
