Protective Order Dismissed Against Tulsa Police Captain

Osage County -

A judge dismissed an emergency protective order against a Tulsa Police Captain accused of sexual misconduct on Tuesday.

Osage County Judge B. David Gambill dismissed the protective order against Gilcrease Division Captain Shawn King without prejudice.

According to court documents, Captain King had been served the protective order on April 27th on behalf of Keena B. Roberts.

King had been suspended from duty for five days in April following allegations that he had engaged in sexual activity in his squad car while on duty in Mohawk Park.

The allegations had surfaced in an April 26th issue of This Land Press.

Tulsa Police Chief Chuck Jordan had stated on April 26th that King's alleged conduct was a violation of TPD policy, not a crime.

"The allegations reported to the Police Department, and later published in This Land, were stored on a privately owned computer and were password protected," Jordan said in a news release. "On advice of the City Legal Department, the Police Department was unable to legally access that information."

When a judge dismisses something without prejudice, it can be due to insufficient evidence, though the plaintiff can re-file at a later time.
