POSITION SUMMARY:

The News Producer produces line up and layout of assigned newscasts. Responsible for format, organization, coordination with other departments, news writing, and distribution of final scripts. Enforces established editorial and production values in preparation of assigned program. Enters news stories on Station's website. Performs other duties as needed and assigned. Reports directly to the News Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelors degree in Journalism or related field preferred. Minimum of two (2) years experience in a television newsroom and a minimum of one (1) year of producing are preferred. Knowledge of journalistic standards as they relate to news broadcasting. Ability to establish and work within program format, make quick and appropriate decisions, and gain cooperation from others. Possess strong and accurate verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, and good typing skills. Must have the ability to consistently "win the lead" by adding exclusive elements, facts and graphics that the producer gathers, researches, and produces themselves from local sources, Internet, etc. Must have the ability to work well under stressful and/or time sensitive situations.
