Tulsa Parks is gearing up for summer with pools, water playgrounds, and programs.
Since 2004, Tulsa Parks and Recreation had to rely on corporate sponsorships and private donations to maintain and staff the park pools. This year, the pools are completely funded through the City of Tulsa's general fund.
The five pools opening this summer are the same as in 2011. Those pools are located at McClure, Reed, Lacy, Whiteside and Berry parks.
Admission fees to the pools are also unchanged.
The pools open with the annual celebration "Beach Bash" at McClure Park on June 2 at 12pm.
Tulsa now has nine water playgrounds open, including those recently added at Maxwell, Owen, and Chamberlain parks.
A tenth water playground currently under construction at Whiteside is scheduled to be completed in June.
Tulsa also has 22 splash pads throughout the park system already open.
