Kansas City, MO -

The post-season men's basketball tournament in the Big 12 Conference will remain at Kansas City's Sprint Center, the league announced Friday.

The conference, Kansas City Sports Commission and Sprint Center agreed to a two-year extension which will keep the tournament in Kansas City through 2016.

"This agreement solidifies the fact that Kansas City is Big 12 country," said Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby. "The sport of college basketball has a great history in Kansas City and the Big 12 is a large part of it."

The tournament has been hosted in Kansas City eleven times since the league formed in 1996-97, including the past three seasons at the Sprint Center.

The Sprint Center also hosted in 2008 and Kansas City's Kemper Arena was host in 1997 through 2002 and again in 2005.

Oklahoma City's Ford Center hosted in 2007 and 2009 and the only other host has been American Airlines Center in Dallas in 2003, 2004 and 2006.
