Tornado Warning In Virginia As Sooners Open NCAA Tournament

Charlottesville, VA -

The Oklahoma baseball team is used to dealing with severe weather. But, they didn't expect it to follow them to Virginia.

The Sooners were supposed to open the NCAA tournament today against Appalachian State in Charlottesville, Virginia. But, severe thunderstorms, including a tornado warning just to Charlottesville's west, kept the teams off the field.

The games -- which will begin with host Virginia against Army followed by the Sooners and Mountaineers -- will now be played on Saturday.

Friday's tornado warning was issued after radar indicated a storm capable of producing a tornado. No tornadoes have actually been spotted. Heavy rain has also posed problems today. Charlottesville County is under a flash flood warning as upwards of two inches of rain has fallen in a short period of time.

The Sooners are the No. 2 seed in the regional. Host Virginia is the top seed, Appalachian State is the No. 3 and Army is the No. 4 seed.
