Overnight Storm Causes Damage Across Green Country

Blacksburg, VA -

Relentless rain created puddles in some place and emergencies in others overnight. "I've lived here since about 95, and I've never seen it like this," said one Verdigris Police officer.

Verdigris Police blocked off a portion of Highway 66 overnight. It's the worst time for flooding like this. The dark deceives drivers. By the time they run into trouble it's too late. Others learned from their mistakes. In Skiatook much the same. The water was also high on Highway 20, where several drivers were stuck Monday morning.

In Tulsa the weather could be to blame for one minor accident on 169 between 21st and 31st streets. The storm also knocked out power to thousands. PSO says 13,000 customers lost power at one point. In Creek County 1,000 people were in dark, 150 people in Osage County and 800 in Rogers County lost power. The lights at 10st and Yale in Tulsa were still out as people headed into work. Broken branches, toppled trees, and limbs littered some roadways. Commutes came to a crawl, but it could've been a lot worse.
