Sims Accused Of Forging Checks On Teammate's Bank Account

Posted: Updated:

Former OSU running back Herschel Sims is accused of using a freshman teammate's account information to obtain 700 dollars, court records indicate.

Sims was charged Tuesday with two counts of felony second-degree forgery. According to documents obtained by Tulsa's Channel 8, Sims went to Stillwater National Bank on April 27th and withdrew money in the amount of $500 and $200 using the account information of Jeremiah Tshimanga, a freshman linebacker.

Sims is expected to be in court June 11th for arraignment. If convicted, Sims could face a seven year prison sentence.

Sims rushed for 242 yards and two touchdowns as a freshman last year, including an 81-yard scamper against Baylor and a one-yard plunge in the Cowboys' 70-28 blowout of Kansas.

His best game came against Texas Tech, when he rushed for 109 yards on 13 carries.

Despite being one of the top recruits in the 2011 signing class, Sims was expected to be the third string tailback behind Joseph Randle and Jeremy Smith this season.
