Governor Mary Fallin joined Boeing representatives for the ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new Oklahoma City facility Thursday afternoon.

The event happened in the 6000 block of South Air Depot Boulevard in Oklahoma City, near Tinker Air Force Base.

Other guests included Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett and Oklahoma County Commissioner Ray Vaughn.

Boeing is bringing more than 1000 new jobs from Long Beach, California, to this new Oklahoma City facility.

"We're confident the new facility will be a great success and will continue the long and successful relationship between the state of Oklahoma and the Boeing Company," Fallin said.

The facility will be home to Boeing's avionics modernization programs for the B-1 and C-130 aircrafts, as well as the B-52, E-4B, E-6, C-32, and C-40.

The Boeing Company was founded in 1916 by William E. Boeing in Seattle.

The company merged with McDonnell Douglas in 1997.
