58% of High School Seniors Admit To Texting While Driving

More than half of high school seniors admit they text or e-mail while driving.

The CDC reports that 58% of seniors and 43% of juniors admit to texting behind the wheel.

Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood calls it an epidemic.

He unveiled plans to stop it.

That includes calling on states to implement laws banning the practice.

He's also asking automakers to adopt technology that eliminates distractions.
