Tulsa -
A Broken Arrow woman convicted of second-degree manslaughter in the 2009 death of her son has been formally sentenced in the case.
Judge William Kellough agreed with the jury's recommendation, sentencing Susan Grady to two and a half years in prison. She was convicted May 25th.
Prosecutors said Grady's 9-year-old son Aaron, died June 5, 2009 from complications of diabetes. They said Grady chose prayer over getting medical help for her son, who according to court documents had been sick for several days.
At the time of Aaron's illness, his father brought up medical care, but Aaron's mother allegedly said she would "Leave this in the hands of the Lord."
Court documents show she withheld medical treatment because of her religious beliefs. She is a member of the Church of the Firstborn, a church that has been the subject of other cases involving children.
