Mounds -
A Green Country police department is being investigated by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation.
OSBI spokesperson Jessica Brown confirmed to Tulsa's Channel 8 that they were assisting the Creek County Sheriff's Office and the District Attorney investigating members of the Mounds Police Department.
Details of the allegations were not released.
Mounds is a small town in eastern Creek County, about 20 miles south of Tulsa.
This afternoon, Tulsa's Channel 8 received a statement from Mounds mayor Aaron Veale:
It is with great sadness that I learned of the allegations against our town's police department today. The town of Mounds will do everything we can to help in the investigation. As a result of this investigation involving our police department, I want to inform the people of the Town of Mounds that they will continue to be protected by the Creek County Sheriff's department until such time as we can reinstate our officers or if necessary, replacements for the positions have been found. Let me reassure the people of Mounds that you are and will continue to be protected by the authorities.
Veale says the town of Mounds is working with investigators to quickly resolve the allegations.
Tulsa's Channel 8 will continue to follow this developing story and have any additional details as they emerge.
