An elderly woman died Thursday -- more than a week after a crash in which the driver of another vehicle lost control of her car while reaching for a cell phone.

It happened at about 8:10 a.m. on May 30th on Interstate 40 east of Weatherford. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 78-year-old Barbara Hatchell of Weatherford was a passenger in a vehicle driven by 79-year-old Cecil Arrington traveling eastbound on the interstate.

The driver of another vehicle -- identified as 19-year-old Jamie Zoschak of Hinton -- was also eastbound when troopers say she dropped her cell phone and while reaching for it, she swerved into the other lane and collided with Arrington's mini-van, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway.

Arrington's mini-van rolled twice. Hatchell was airlifted to OU Medical Center, but passed away from her injuries Thursday afternoon.

Arrington was treated and release for minor injuries at a Weatherford hospital and Zoschak refused treatment at the scene and was later cited for inattentive driving.

It's unclear if additional citations or charges will be filed in the case.
