In conjunction with Men's Health Month and with Fathers' Day just around the corner, Sam's Club offered men's screenings on Saturday.

From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, the Sam's Club in the 7700 block of South Olympia Avenue offered PSA prostate-specific antigen) tests to screen for prostate cancer, BMI (body mass index) tests, and blood pressure tests.

Prostate cancer can be treated if caught early, so it is important for men over 50 to be screened routinely.

The National Institutes of Health recommends men who might have family histories or risk factors to start getting screened at age 40.

About one in six men in the U.S. are diagnosed with prostate cancer annually.

According to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control), prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer among men in the U.S. It is also one of the leading causes of cancer death among men of all races.
