The bangs and booms of Independence Day are only a few weeks away.
But if you're going to set off fireworks in your neighborhood, depending on where you live, you're going to need a permit.
The City of Sand Springs started selling permits today at City Hall.
The permit costs $20, cash only. And no permits will be sold on July 4.
The fine for setting off fireworks in Sand Springs without a permit is $154.
Permits are also required in Glenpool, Broken Arrow, Sapulpa, Claremore and Bixby.
The City of Tulsa does not allow residents to buy or set off fireworks, not even on the Fourth of July.
