City Officials in Broken Arrow want to know who's been dumping trash outside a home near Detroit & Date Streets
Broken Arrow, OK -
A large pile of trash in one Broken Arrow neighborhood is turning the ire and noses of some local residents.
Stephanie Higgins with the City of Broken Arrow tells KTUL.com, the city first received a complaint about the pile near Detroit and Date Streets early Monday Morning. Higgins says someone has been dumping old mattresses, furniture, food, clothing and other garbage in front of a home in the neighborhood.
Higgins says the city has contacted the property owner to remove the trash. She says if the pile is not removed by Thursday, the city will pursue an "emergency abatement" measure to remove the trash themselves as it poses a 'potential public health risk.'
Some neighbors we spoke with said the pile has been there for at least a week.
Higgins also reminds residents that if they see incidents like this to notify the city by calling the Broken Arrow Action Line at (918) 258-3587.
