The Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors
Oak Ridge, TN -
The Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors earned a ninth place finish at the USRowing Youth Nationals on Sunday.
The crew included Katie Grantham from Booker T. Washington, Anne Philpot from Regent Preparatory School, Victoria Richter from Cascia Hall, Emily Hyde from Holland Hall, and Madison Davidson from Jenks.
According to Head Coach Neil Bergenroth, they recorded an historical best for the club in the process.
The crew rowed in fifth place for most of the race yet made a strong move in the last 750 meters of the race to move into third place by the finish line in the B final and record a ninth place overall at Youth Nationals.
"Our ladies rowed their hearts out to the best finish in T-R-C-J history," said Varsity Coach Micah Hartwell. "I'm so proud of what these ladies accomplished."
USRowing selects, trains, and manages the teams that represent the U.S. in international competitions including the World Championships, Pan American Games, and the Olympics.
The Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors are currently running summer camps for those 7th-12th grade athletes who are looking for a challenge this June.
