OHP troopers have detained in Oklahoma City on Wednesday a man accused of impersonating a Tulsa Police officer.

33-year-old Barry Baker Jr. is suspected of numerous contacts with the public in which he represents himself as a law enforcement officer, sometimes using the alias of Homicide Detective Matt Baker.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) responded to a call from Baker, who had threatened suicide, in the 3000 block of West Reno at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Oklahoma City Police Sergeant Jennifer Morris told KTUL.com that a chase ensued once OHP troopers arrived at the scene.

Sgt. Morris confirmed that Baker tried to run over an officer.

Baker had been driving a newer model white Ford King Ranch pick-up that was equipped with a police-style radio.

Morris confirmed that OHP performed a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI) maneuver—causing Baker's truck to abruptly turn sideways, lose control, and stop.

Baker was taken into custody near I-44 and Western Avenue.

He is being held by OHP and has been charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of attempting to elude.

Baker had two outstanding warrants for his arrest for impersonating a police officer and will be held without bond.
