North Tulsa -
A man is dead after his SUV hit a house Wednesday night.
Just before 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, a man was driving a white SUV southbound on North Peoria Avenue when he drove off the road to the left in the 1000 block of North Peoria, overcorrected, hit a tree and a fence, rolled over, and hit a house in the 900 block of North Peoria Avenue.
Police told Tulsa's Channel 8's crew on the scene that the man was partially thrown from his vehicle and was killed.
Police have identified the victim as 35-year-old Patrick O. Wilson.
TPD Captain Karen Tipler told KTUL.com that a child had been playing in the yard about 30 seconds before the SUV drove into the yard. The child is okay.
According to police, no one inside the house was hurt.
"Everyone is shaken up because it looks like a tornado has gone through the tree line," Tipler said, "but everyone inside the house is fine."
Capt. Tipler confirmed that the SUV had hit a gas meter at the house and that Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) is still on the scene.
Police also stated that a dog had been inside the SUV, that it appears to be okay, and that it has been taken by the City of Tulsa's Animal Welfare.
