Thunder Up At Work, For a Good Cause

Posted: Updated:

It's time for game two of the NBA national championship and love for the Thunder is only growing here in Tulsa.

Channel 8's Kim Jackson found workers slightly distracted---but all for a very good cause to help Tulsa's less fortunate.

Thundermania is effecting workplace dress codes Instead of a dress or suit your boss or receptionist maybe all thundered up.

Youth services of Tulsa helps young people in need. But today--the workers thundered up to raise money.

"We thought since everyone has their Thundermania that we would pay to wear Thundergear on game days," said Liz Neas, of Youth Services.

Everyone paid two bucks, money that would go to the United Way fund. Their annual goal is 40-thousand dollars.

"It's awesome it's nice to wear stuff that is comfortable but to support the team but also to give each other a hard time. Those that are not Thunder fans we can rub in their face a bit and surprisingly a couple are not huge Thunder fans," said Tania Pryce.

The little donation went a long way in building team spirit--and for some this is about the only time they will wear thunder gear because of superstitions

"I an only wear it either not on a game or just before a game. Once game starts  I have to take it off and put a regular T-shirt on," said Sara Cullinan.

Not everyone could wear the shirts because they have important jobs. Even some of those people donated the same two bucks.
