Glenpool, Oklahoma -

A local community is celebrating its history with a special festival.

Black Gold Days got started Thursday in Glenpool.

The event features carnival rides, food, craft vendors, and even a pageant Thursday evening.

It's also the first year for Mr. and Miss Black Gold.

The action runs through Sunday.

Other events of note include concerts Friday night and a parade Saturday.

Organizers say the name comes from discovering gold in Glenpool.

Parking is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Admission is free.
