A woman admits to killing a man and leads authorities to his body on Thursday.

At around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, investigators from the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) and agents of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) located the body of a deceased, unidentified male on a secluded, rural property in the Lost City area of northwestern Cherokee County.

The unidentified deceased male is believed to be 48-year-old Herbert Lee Potts, who was reported missing by his family in May.

The body was sent to the Tulsa office of the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner for autopsy and positive identification.

CCSO investigators and OSBI agents were led to the area by 38-year-old Misty Coleen Richardson, who admitted, in an interview with CCSO investigators Thursday morning that she had shot and killed Potts several months earlier during a physical confrontation and had buried his body on the property, which she claimed to own.

Richardson agreed to accompany investigators to the burial site and did lead investigators to a site she claimed to be a shallow grave covered with rocks.

Richardson has been booked for First Degree Murder at the Cherokee County Detention Center in Tahlequah.

Richardson is being held without bond until a bail hearing Friday morning.
