The Glenpool Chamber of Commerce held the 34nd Annual Black Gold Days celebration Thursday through Saturday.
The event, which took place in Black Gold Park on U.S. Highway 75 at 145th Street, commemorated the 1905 discovery of oil in Glenpool.
Festivities kicked off at 5:00 p.m. Thursday when the Boy Scouts raised the American flag, followed by attractions including a carnival, food, crafts, a parade, and a three-day Music Festival.
"Our main headliner is Pake McEntire, who is Reba McEntire's brother," said Jennifer Cook, President and CEO of the Glenpool Chamber of Commerce.
Saturday's events began with a Lion's Club pancake breakfast, a horseshoe tournament, and a frog and turtle race.
The Black Gold Parade began at 11:00 a.m. with girls up to age 19 and boys up to age 8. The parade was led by Miss Black Gold Days.
Cook said Jimmy Riddle of Hee Haw fame would be there with his whole band to play.
Great Plains Amusement, out of Lindsay, Oklahoma, provided hot dogs and other concession stand food items. Other food vendors provided Cajun and German food.
In 1905, oil prospectors drilling on farmland owned by Creek Indian Ida E. Glenn created the first oil gusher in what would later be known as the "Glenn Pool."
The town of Glenpool was incorporated in 1908.
