Sand Springs Church Cancels Service Due To Meningitis

A Sand Springs church cancels its Sunday services due to a suspected case of meningitis.

Word of Life church broke the news on it's Web site Sunday.

"We have sought professional counsel at this time, for everyone's safety, we have decided to cancel our Sunday morning service for this Sunday, June 17th 2012," the online message states.

The message tells congregation members that a child was diagnosed for bacterial meningitis and is being treated.

The child attends the church regularly and was at vacation bible school.

A summer camp that begins Monday, June 18th, has also been canceled.

The church says all areas are being cleaned and disinfected. Parents are being encouraged to watch for symptoms. Church will resume Wednesday at normal time.

On Sunday night a tornado went through the town of Carney. It destroyed or damaged about 40 homes. When you look out at the area there are homes in every direction that show some kind of damage.
