The Juneteenth concert will begin Tuesday night at 6 at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame where KTUL's own Kim Jackson will be emceeing the event.
The event's special guest artist is legendary drummer Louis Hayes. Hayes has played alongside Horace Silver's Quintet, the Cannonball Adderley Quintet, and the Oscar Peterson Trio as well as performing with John Coltrane, Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, and others.
If you aren't able to make the show tonight, the celebration continues Thursday night at 7 PM with the Jazz Composer Series. Come out and support local composers like Jordan Hehl, University of Tulsa graduate, who will be playing his original music.
Juneteenth is a nationwide day of reconciliation and healing, and a celebration of Oklahoma's rich jazz legacy. Tickets to the event are available at the Jazz Depot.
