Tulsa Police Warn Citizens Of Trailer Thefts

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa Police are warning citizens to be on the lookout for trailer thieves.

"The theft of trailers is an ongoing problem in Tulsa and the surrounding communities. This year alone, an estimated one million dollars worth of trailers and their contents have been stolen. In addition to the theft itself, trailer thefts often result in losses that prevent business owners from being able operate." The department said.

Throughout the next week, The Tulsa Police Department will focus on enforcing state and local ordinances specific to the operation of trailers.  In addition to cracking down on enforcement of these policies, officers will be providing trailer owners pamphlets to educate them in the areas of theft prevention, what to look for when buying a trailer, and the importance of documenting information needed to report a stolen trailer.

The goal of this project is to educate trailer owners on steps they can take to prevent the theft of their trailers and to increase the likelihood of the trailer's recovery should it be stolen.
