A man is behind bars Friday night after trying to steal a pop-up trailer near Sapulpa.

30-year-old Jason A. Crabtree reportedly attached the trailer to his own tan Chevrolet on private property and drove off.

Once the alleged theft was reported, the Creek County Sheriff's Department initiated a pursuit around 5:30 p.m., and the Sapulpa Police Department assisted.

According to Sapulpa Police Major Jeff Gilliland, Crabtree crashed out and fled on foot near 131st Street South and 49th West Avenue in Sapulpa.

Sapulpa Police's canine unit located Crabtree at 6:15 p.m., and he was taken to the Creek County Jail.

Creek County Deputy Scott Forrester told KTUL.com that Crabtree will likely be charged with alluding police.

Other charges may follow once the investigation is completed.

Forrester said the trailer will be returned to its owner but that it has been totaled.
