Man Dies in Bryan County Car Wreck

A man is dead following a car crash Saturday night.

50-year-old Tommy Nicholas of Achille was driving a 1994 Mercury eastbound on River Road when the car went off the road to the left, hit an embankment, and rolled 1½ times onto its top—according to an OHP Troop E report.

The accident happened Saturday night just before 8:00 p.m., one mile east of Chickasaw Road.

Nicholas was taken by Colbert EMS to Texoma Medical Center in Dennison, Texas, and was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Troopers investigating the crash cited that it was alcohol-related.

The OHP report indicated that Nicholas was wearing his seatbelt. It is unclear whether the Mercury was equipped with airbags.
