Tim Vandiver
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says an Oklahoma Department of Transportation worker was killed on Interstate 40 near Henryetta, early Monday Afternoon.
It happened just East of the US 62/75 Interchange. Henryetta Police tell KTUL.com at least 4 vehicles were involved.
Troopers say the driver of an RV towing an SUV was sleepy and drifted off the roadway. The RV rear-ended an ODOT pick-up truck parked on the shoulder.
Tim Vandiver, 47, was ejected and died on impact.
The accident happened inside a marked work zone.
Vandiver had been with ODOT since 1994 and had been working as superintendent for Checotah Interstate Maintenance.
ODOT released a statement Monday afternoon saying: "Our thoughts are with the Vandiver's family, friends and fellow crew members during this difficult time."
